Expedition Guide: 20. The Gauntlet

The Gauntlet objective is passing through the log traps, investigate 3 Jaguar statues and at last in the Treasure Room to get 3 azure skulls hidden behind big stone blocks. After the requirements and quests, here are 2 overviews for you to get all with a quick look. Following there are some more detailed screen shoots.

Requirements (level 31): 5400 supplies, 5 food/fuel/water

Gadgets: Optional - 1 grappling hook and several dynamites

Very useful the crew help here, so do ask for crew members before start the expedition

The snake got behind the statue, just cutting 1 vine. Though you can cut the two behind, I think.

1st trap, a snake falls in it. Great!

You can use a crew here to pick up the vases and you just can run away from the snake. From passing to the other side, or you use the crumbling block or if you have extra coins, just use the dynamite. But, first you need to go to the other room in the next screen shoot.

Only entry for this room: a big stone block costs 3 energy with the 4hp axe.

Use the crew to go up and get vines (I didn't but later I returned here because I needed vines).

Repairing and disarming the trap. I used dynamite, but also can be used the crumbling stones (only pushing that stone for the button).

I used dynamite is easier, otherwise position a stone from the right lion mouth and on the button in front of it.

To get these 3 vases, use the grappling hook. For going to the other side, place stones on both buttons or use dynamite. you can use a crew help here. If you use the stones, position one and yourself on the other (or both, because the position of the avatar doesn't work all times). If you use the dynamite, after use the crew to "carry the snakes far away" (these are hard to kill 10 hp).

Position that crumbling stone for disarming the trap. The ancient statue is behind a wall that goes down by that button, where is the stone.

Use the grappling hook and then request crew help to go up and collect the 3 vases. Again is better don't killing the snakes.

In this room you can lure a snake to fall in the trap or to go far away or killing it. So, disram the trap with the snake, position with a crew help near the trap handle or you must have collected enough vines to disarm the trap, through the handle. Before the trap is disarmed, don't try to go inside for those vines, because you will fall in the trap.

Repairing and disarming the trap. Then collect the vines and investigate the statue.

Break only the big stones that were in front of the azure skulls position. This expedition is complete!

I have maximum coins and/or supplies. What should I do?

Keep a storage of gadgets (I do 10 each)

There are a maximum for coins and supplies (100 thousand coins and 100 thousand supplies). If you reached the maximum limit for coins, you should prepare yourself for new adventures to come or other expeditions that needs more gadgets ( dynamite or grappling hooks, net will come soon).

It is not worthy to cut trees, grass or stones from your neighbors. They give you few XP and it doesn't make any difference for high level players. Making high expeditions, do make a difference and then, your supplies are never at maximum limit.

Conclusion:

If you have limit of coins and supplies, use your energy to high level expeditions and it will help you level up. CUTTING NEIGHBORS TREES WON'T HELP!

How can I get MORE COINS?

5. ASK coins to your friends by posting

Coins are always needed by sometimes is worst: there is a COIN QUEST: To have 25,000 coins, for example. In the beginning of the game it is hard. 


The best you to do is:

1. buy some excavation sites (1hour site are the more profitable), 
2. visiting friends, clicking on Animal Kingdoms trees, it gives you 25 coins, or clicking on the animals to get yourself this tree, 
3. buy the firs 2 expansions with a building (not the plane, not the vases),
4. Doing low level expeditions (they use few supplies and few energy) or the 4 hour expeditions (Ram runner),
5. clicking on the top screen in the + right side of where are your coins (picture above), then make ASK friends for coins (pictures below). This one also helps.

Glyphs of Fire

"I am supposed to use Fire Switches to form Ancient Glyphs. Pushing stones will allow me to adjust fire vents."

Requirements (level 30):
5000 supplies, 5 food/fuel/water, 1 Dynamite
Energy:  Volatile rock 4 hp, Lava rock 12 hp

Gains: Volatile rock 30 coins,10 xp; bushes 30 coins,10 xp; Lava rock: 1coin,1xp(2x), 30 coins,10xp(1); 
Vases 100 coins,16 xp or 90 coins,30 xp

Quest 1: Trying by activate the Glyph of fun, only red torches.

Quest 2: Activate The Glyph of The Sun! (by lighting torches)

Quest 3: Activate The Rain (color torches) 

Overview

Here you can push the stone to the button, but it is not needed. You can stand where is the avatar and just turn it off.

Careful with the snake on the right, because the flames will go down and the snake will bite you.

You can choose here 1 of 3 ways:
1) placing the stone in a specific place (needs 3 energy)
2) use the other side to switch off that torche (breaking volatiles rocks and a lava rock (needs 7 energy, but you earn a nice amount of xp from volatile rocks)
3) breaking a volatile stone, flower and another volatile stone (needs 5 energy)
I chose the 3rd one, because is less work and I have few energy, now.

Glicht of rain: Green Torche

Use 1 energy to push the stone to the switch, kill the snake, if you still didn't, and go through the snake way, instead of the bridge. Again here I decided to not position the stones and going by the back of the switch (breaking a lava rock and a volatile rock).

Go around to the place of the avatar, break the lava rock and you can reach the blue switch to activate the blue torche.

Now, to the last quest: Glyph of the Sun. Go through the place number 2, numbered for quest 1, and by the right of the map, in such a way that you only cut a bush and you don't need to fight the snake and breaking rocks. I got the flower and the green vase (also nice some extra good coins - got a 100 coins, xp and energy).

On the row of switches I just played going in and out and killing snakes. However, I need to move the stones in order to be able to reach the switch. 

YELLOW: I manage to kill the snake by the flames moving one more time the stone in front. I moved the stone back again, so I would get the 2 vases, that was worthy because they gave me 2 energy each.

And this expedition is complete. I still choose continue in order to collect some volatile rocks left behind.
